The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for-profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.  We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually.

The Outdoor Museum is of international renown as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history.  In all, some 350 staff work to bring our goldrush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.

We have an exciting opportunity for new team members to join us at Sovereign Hill in a unique and rewarding role!

The Retail Customer Service Officer is responsible for engaging and assisting visitors with enquiries, purchasing decisions and processing sales transactions across the retail outlets both internal and external to the Museum. Sovereign Hill is seeking Customer focused staff to work in our retail locations during our Winter Period, specifically through Winter Wonderlights.

The successful applicant must have:

  • Experience within a customer service or retail environment is essential
  • Good communications skills, an outgoing personality, and a genuine liking for people
  • Excellent cash handling and P.O.S. skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work across flexible rosters including weekends, weeknights, public holidays and school holidays

Qualifications and Checks:

  • Police Check
  • Employee Working with Children’s Check
  • A certificate II or III in Retail is highly desirable
