Sovereign Hill Museums Association seeks applications from Arts and Heritage Trades Workshop Leaders.
The Sovereign Hill Museums Association Limited (SH) is responsible for the operation of Sovereign Hill and over the decades has expanded beyond its original Outdoor Museum to include the Gold Museum, AURA (formally Blood on the Southern Cross) sound and light show evening product and Narmbool Farm property.
The SH is a not-for-profit community based organization, and as such reinvests operating profits to develop organizational capability, advance sustainability, enhance visitor learning and experiences, care for environmental assets across our landscapes, and research and conserve heritage artefacts.
SH seeks to recruit and register a bank of Workshop Leaders as contractors for delivery of classes in the forthcoming Australian Centre for Rare Arts and Trades.
Whilst referring to ‘contractors’, SH seeks a strong and enduring relationship with the team of artisans such that we celebrate our shared success in building the facilities reputation as a centre of excellence.
These are not full time positions but rather contracted hours for the delivery of classes. For example if a Workshop Leader has broad capabilities they may run several workshops covering multiple topics each month however a very specialised leader may only run one or two workshops per year. We will largely be guided by the audience interest matched with the Workshop Leaders time availability.
This facility is due to open in mid-next year (2022). Preparations necessitate an early recruitment to enable sign on and induction processes plus workshop participation sales to be released ahead of opening.
The proposed workshops range from, however are not limited to, the following.
Metal Trades, Wood Working Trades, Decorative Arts, Print & Paper, Leather Crafts, Fashion and Textiles, Heritage Construction, Field Crafts.
The successful applicant must have:
- Demonstrated skills and experience for effective Workshop Leadership
- Workshop teaching topics relevant to our themes
- Value for money demonstrated through proposed hourly rates
- Demonstration of reliability and proposed methods to ensure reliability.
