The Museum of Applied Arts and Science (MAAS) is Australia’s contemporary museum for excellence and innovation in applied arts and sciences and is uniquely placed to use its collections, disciplines and ideas to demonstrate how applied arts and sciences impact Australia and the world.

The Museum’s Curatorial department has an exciting opportunity for one Assistant Curator to play a key role in supporting collection development, exhibitions and displays, research and publications, online content and programs. This Assistant Curator will have demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas of the applied arts: fashion, design, decorative arts, photography, Indigenous culture, Australian history and contemporary culture

The successful candidate will:
  • Be self-motivated, disciplined and collaborative team members with a capacity for interdisciplinary thinking and contemporary museology
  • Have sound knowledge of one or more of the above-mentioned areas of the applied arts
  • Have high-level oral and written communication skills suitable for a diverse range of audiences and stakeholders
  • Contribute to audience development and other initiatives that support the Museum’s strategic vision and mission
  • Possess relevant tertiary qualifications
