The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, is the first museum in Australia and was founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 21 million objects of biological, geological, and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online, and offsite.

About the Role
The Head of Exhibitions will lead the development and delivery of temporary exhibitions and permanent gallery projects, developing business cases, schedules, strategies and plans for each exhibition project to ensure synergy between plans and the scientific and cultural pursuits of the Australian Museum. The Head of Exhibitions manages touring, design, exhibition prep, and project managers to assist in this delivery.
Essential Requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualification or relevant, equivalent professional experience.
- Significant experience in planning and managing the delivery of exhibitions and other public programs, events or activities in a museum or associated context
- Sound working knowledge of exhibition design, audience engagement and methods of exhibition programming in museums
- Current knowledge and working experience to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description
