Sovereign Hill Museums Association is seeking a Horticulture Apprentice to be based at our Narmbool site. Narmbool is a 2000 hectare property situated 35 minutes from Ballarat at Elaine and incorporates the Narmbool historic homestead, education facilities focusing on sustainability, and a working farm.
The Horticulture Apprentice is responsible for assisting with all gardening tasks related to the maintenance and improvement of the decorative gardens surrounding the heritage homestead as well as other associated gardens around the property. Other duties include environmental conservation, weed control, and maintenance/construction works. A combination of on-site and off-site training will be required to complete the apprenticeship.
We are seeking expressions of interest for the horticulture apprentice role.
To be successful you will need to have the following attributes:
- Genuine interest in horticulture
- Self-motivated with effective time management skills
- Good communicator with a high level of attention to detail
- Punctual and reliable with a willingness to commit to the completion of a Horticulture qualification
Candidates currently undertaking a Horticulture or Landscape Construction certificates or apprenticeship are encouraged to apply
Ability to undertake physically demanding manual work is essential, therefore a pre-employment medical check is required before commencement and a driver’s license.
The successful applicant will be required to carry an employee Working with Children’s Check and undergo a Police Check.
First-year apprentice is classified as 75% of Sovereign Hill EBA Level 7 undertaking a 4-year course in accordance with legislation requirements.
